Large Spirit Level with Ruler?
G'day all,
I'd like a level, say 800 (1200 would be better) long, with a ruler on it.
The only one I can find is a rubbish plastic one at bunnies.....I don't do plastic, so its not an option.
Anyone seen a decent one with a ruler?
Cheers,
Peter

A few years back I bought a cheap 1.2m Sontax, Al, bevel edged, ruler with two spirit bubbles on it from Bunnings and have used it for heaps of things.
It looks like they no longer sell these but Total Tools do

If you are going to use teh ruler side a lot then the usual fat edged spirit levels are not going to be much good as rulers need to have the measuring edge close to the material being measured.
Alternative would be to glue a couple of bubbles onto a decent ruler?

Every year Aldi has some of these, they really work well. their accuracy is good enough for almost anything other than extremely critical. Great for aligning shelving brackets up at 600mm intervals. Just adjusted the two blue adjusters to 600mm apart and away I went.
Really neat bit is that one side counts up from zero from one end, while the other side counts out from zero either side of the centre.
Cannot remember the cost but I know it was cheap, otherwise I wouldn't have purchased it.
Mick.

I ocassionaly use the magnetic edge of a spirit level to hold a steel ruler. The length I have used is much shorter than what you want though.
Another way of doing it is to put masking tape (I like green as it is easy to mark) on one side of your spirit level and then mark whatever spacing you require. This works very well when hanging frames with key hole fittings. When you have finished you can always remove the masking tape.
