Ebay (USA) currently has a few Starrett Squares listed. I haven't sifted through them yet to find out which is what etc.

My fear with this setup, is buying one that has been dropped, abused, tortured, or used as a tin opener. All of which is not ideal use, especially for a combination.

The idea of owning one appeals to me, I mean no one has anything but high praise for them. But, Murphy says if Outback buys one off the interent from USA, it will probably serve better as a dovetail guide, than as a square.
    Boring signature time again!

I love my Nobex! Having more than just 90 degrees available is pretty handy, and it folds and goes into a pocket like a treat!

I've also seen them for about half that price at the Morriset Mega Markets - I think it was $15 for the small one, and $22 for the large.

Of course that was the day after I'd bought mine from Mitre10, and about 6 months before I was likely to be going back to the markets (

    Cheers,
    Andrew

I bought a new Starrett a couple of years back, but I didn't pay anything like $800 for it. I thought it was about $100, must have been a more basic model.

Basically I went for something good cause I didn't trust anything cheaper. The only thing that I regret with the Starrett is that I got an imperial sclae on it not metric. I checked the price of getting the metric scale and that was going to be an extra $70. 2 years later I am still thinking about getting it but haven't so far.
