Clinton1,
2nd photo:
Flattens of this surface is critical; especially the contact area with blade at the bottom end. Be aware, don’t remove excessively in this area.
Both:
Perfect contact at two different flat surfaces (at frog screw area and frog tip / plane body) requires precession engineering; so it wouldn’t happen here .
Folded Al foil under frog tip will improve its seating, you may want to check it out.
Good luck.

Sorry mate, I don't know what that means. Are you saying that if I try to get this flat at the two areas, and both to each other, - that it won't happen with me trying at home??

Clinton1,
1) "wouldn't happen here" - refers to Stanley planes & their workmanship.
2) "Perfect contact at two different flat surfaces" refers to the ares marked red in attached drawing (from Patrick's site). These two contact surfaces need to be flat & parallel for the frog & adjusting mechanism to work properly.
Sorry about the confusion.
Cheers,
Theva
