Thank you pagie, Helmut, DJ and everyone involved.
My single blade arrived today. If more postage is required to cover the total cost I am happy to contribute.

My single blade and back iron also arrived to-day, and I would like to echo Pete L's thanks. My delight was somewhat tempered when I discovered a 2mm half-moon nick in the cutting edge, about 9mm from the side of the blade. There is a smaller corresponding nick in the attached back iron; I suspect the assembly has been dropped vertically onto a hard edge. This damage is going to take a lot of sharpening to remove, not happy.
Chas.

Got mine today - thanks to all the hands who contributed to get this done. Next step is the sharpening, but all looks good so far.
Well done guys,
Tom

Chas, I haven't noticed any nicks in any of the blades. Was the package damaged? When I get to the end I will see if there is any spares.
I am learning, slowley.

Pagie, one of my large blades has both edges chipped to 2mm in from the edge and will need a fair bit of grinding. I have also noticed the slot is marginally small and will take some filing so the lateral adjuster can fit the slot (you can't file the adjuster or normal blades will be too sloppy). Also, the slot in the iron for the 'Y' adjusting lever needed some filing.
Minor things that can be fixed with some work. Harder blades are more brittle and need care not to be dropped or banged.
(the package was not damaged as far as I can tell)

Paigie
Slightly concerned I'm not on any of the spreadsheets mentioned above.
I bought in for 1 x 2" blade & iron, and 2 x 23/8" blades & irons as per post #516.
Thanks for you hard work - sounds like things are getting hectic as this goes down to the wire!
cheers

Peter
Either the supplier has supplied extreme density M2 steel or those leprechaun's are clearly not up to the task of weighing blades for determining postage costs.
If you can post my blades and let me know the cost of upgrading to the appropriate bag I will direct deposit the funds. Perhaps you could also include a highly trained, tertiary qualified leprechaun in the bag with strict instructions to protect the edges and a wad of stiff cardboard or similar to assist him.
Thanks again,
Regards

Mine arrived yesterday, thanks. I did find it amusing that the only writing on the cardboard packing was the text "Made In Brazil" - something we don't know about here?
Disappointing that the postage is working out higher than originally thought. Kinda ruins the whole theme of the posts I made many moons ago suggesting people chip in a few extra dollars to give Helmut and DJ something for all their work.
If there are any leftover bits of steel in sizes that are not full blades I'd be happy to take them off your hands, and happy to pay postage on them.

Thanks Peter.
Mine's arrived safe and sound and looks lethal.
I understood that the charge per blade or blade set included postage for each and I also made a donation towards DJ's costs. But you should not be the meat in the sandwich here so am happy to contribute more.Cheers, Ern

Re: The Second Stanley Plane Blade Order
Thanks guys. The chips worry me. I have packed them in cardboard and tape. I thought that would be enough to protect them. I have not seen any nicks in them here. I just had another look at the blades left on the table. Still a bloody lot. No chips that I can see. Never doubt the ability of aus post.
I am learning, slowley.
