It is a 24pp booklet and the interesting point is their reference to their specialty hand saw files, which they allege are equivalent to DEST, but they have blunt ends.

The era is unclear. The seller thinks it is early. The booklet refers, on the front cover, to the most recent exposition being the 1915 exposition in San Francisco. The next significant exposition in America was in Chicago in 1933. So I, if my assumptions are correct, I would place the catalogue in that eighteen year time frame, but tending to be later rather than earlier.

The blunt ender seems to fly in the face of tradition.

Paul, interesting. I do not know what "...made of the same stock as used in double extra slim taper files" means. In the illustration the width of the blunt file appears the same as the ordinary X Slim. Other than Machete files, I have never seen a blunt-ended file.

For comparison here is a page from the 1942 Nicholson Distributor Catalog that also describes these files

I trust you plan to buy the Catalog.

    Cheers

    Default Joseph Tyzack Catalogue

Here is another catalogue. This time a Joseph Tyzack catalogue - the three leg brand, from 1940. I did not appreciate the vast range of tools this company made. I thought Joseph Tyzack was just a little off-shoot from the larger Tyzack Sons and Turner.

This download is just under 75Mb.

Thanks Homsey. I have recently been collecting a little Atkins information just so I can talk about them with confidence instead of flapping around in the wind. That catalogue is excellent.

Thank you, Paul. Glad it will be useful. All thanks should go to my US catalogue colleague, however. It was Nice to see good old Western Australia gets its own cross cut saw pattern to fell the jarrah trees. Scanned page #48 (Atkins page 162).

    Homsey

I hadn't seen that, but few of the saw manufacturers produced "Australian" patterns in the big logging saws. I expect out hardwoods demanded something specific or perhaps they were just flattering us.

These saws are from Simonds 1919 catalogue:

You're welcome, Paul. I've been harping on about old tool catalogues for years - especially S&J catalogues - so making contact with Mark was a boon to me. All speculation goes out of the window when confronted with primary evidence!

I'm glad these catalogues are useful to you.

    Regards,

    Paul

    Default Ward and Payne Catalogue

Here's a link to a 21 page Ward and Payne (mainly) chisel catalogue:

    https://archive.org/details/WardAndPayneCatalogueET64

This is from Mark in the US (again). Thank you Mark! Appreciated. Download size is 11.5MB. Mark has listed this catalogue with archive.org rather than on his own web site/place. The web page format is similar to that of Mark's previous links but the download button is on the lower right rather than on the tool bar and offers a few different downloadable formats. I used the .pdf link to download my copy.

The catalogue is designated ET/64 (ET for edge tools and I presume 64 as it is from 1964). There is a mixture of wooden and plastic handled tools therein.

    Regards,

    Paul
