Tool Markets in Sydney
G'Day Guys,
If any of you are prepared to share your secret haunts - where are the good second hand tool markets in the sydney region? I haven't had much luck finding any, and the prices from the well known australian internet retailers have become ridiculous...
Thanks for your help.

Derek,
No set place as far as I have found. I get some tools word of mouth, some garage sales and some on the bay. When tool hunting you sometimes just have to wait for the right one to come along. As an example a few years back I was finding that planes on e bay were a tad expensive now I have been landing some real bargins. The trick is do the homework first and have an idea what you need and what is the going price. Other place is market place on this forum. It sometimes has what you are looking for.
Regards
John

Don't forget that The Traditional Tools Group has its May sale and that TTTG and other used tool vendors have their stalls at TWWW show.
Another thought is to join TTTG and get advance info on these and other sales!Cheers

... and Henry's tool sale in August too. Usually promoted by TTTG so check their site as August nears (The Traditional Tools Group (Inc.))
Prestons Markets (Trash & Treasure Australia Pty Ltd) held every Sunday at Prestons in Sydney's south west have a lot of crap but there's a bloke there with some reasonable stuff.
You might also want to check out Markets Sydney
Cheers,

Thanks Guys,
I did go to the last TTTG tool sale and as far as the largest number of hand tools in one place it's probably as good as it gets. Unfortunately I was dropping in on my way from Sydney to Byron bay at the time with my 4 and 2 year old boys with me so it was just a blur. I didn't even really get to check prices. Their sales are only a couple of times a year and I have been watching their website to get the details for the next one but I am guessing that will be next year?
I continue to look on Ebay but boy! you can waste some time dredging through that galaxy, make a bid, not win... I find the whole Ebay experience a little fatiguing and disheartening.
Virgil - that Sydney Markets site is a fantastic resource! I'll be getting myself along to some of those markets in the near future.
Thanks again guys
Derek
