    This year's marketing words.

This stuff has been around for 1000 years under various names, and yet it sounds like they invented this miracle cutting edge material last Tuesday.

Let's not write him off yet - if his venture is successful and it gets him to stop posting his opinions about tools in general, most will be better off for it.

They look very nice. But you'll need a very good snake oil salesman to sell many of them at that price.

You'd be amazed. Some people will buy them just because they are the most expensive and therefore the 'best'.

There are plenty of people in the US who will take Chris Schwarz's recommendation, but who will criticize someone like George Wilson or someone else of his ilk.

The hold fast, though, is sort of a fart in church. It costs as much or more than a hand forged hold fast and it's just casted. I really don't get it. The dividers are attractive, but in the precious tools vein - there are scads of good dividers for $10 or $15 on ebay. One can learn to pein a joint on a divider without any risk, and even if there was some, the biggest penalty is $10 or $15 for another set of dividers, and another shot at gaining a skill.

I don't get the sense that Chris is very competent dealing with old tools, and he caters to the timid or ignorant because they are the types who show up to his class - that is only my opinion. I have no idea how they'll think they can become good woodworkers unless they grow out of that very quickly.
