Default More tools that I have been restoring

    Hi all,

I picked up a box of old rusty tools from epay, dating from the 1940's & 50's, aparently the late father of the seller built his house with them just after the war.
I have picked a few pieces out and gave them a clean. All the wooden parts were sanded back and given a coat of buffing oil, they still keep a bit of their age with nicks and chips etc but are way way better that the paint, rust and grime.

The first is a Disston K-1 saw

The second a Stanley hand drill

and finally a Stanley Yankee 135A screwdriver

Not quite original but I am happy with the results and it beats the box of tools getting thrown out (where the husband wanted to put them)

They've come up well; thanks for the pics.

Not going to buy into the argument about molasses vs electrolysis?
    Cheers, Ern

I used Electrolysis on the saw but just good old elbow grease and sandpaper on the other two.

I've been using a file brush on the chequering on the chucks of old drills and Yankee screwdrivers with good results.......cleans where other brushes can't reach.
We don't know how lucky we are......
