    To achieve additional accuracy the saw handle slot was 1st kerfed to a 1/2" depth using a router table mounted slitting blade, then sawn to full depth with a large tenon saw.

    What's the wood, Stewie, is it Myrtle? Looks like nice, fine-grained stuff, whatever it is....

    Ian; an earlier owner of this saw did a wally job at repairing damage to the top horn and cheek of the handle.

    Shaping work on the new saw handle has been completed. The surfaces have been sanded down to 400grt, and a seal coat of a Danish Oil applied. 2 more coats of Danish Oil are needed to complete this project.

    Nice; & I like the subtle detailing along the top.

    I reckon Myrtle is a good substitute for Applewood & I think you've demonstrated that very nicely with this handle, Stewie!
