Thought I could chip in with my WD40 experience. I saw an email for a Grays Online auction in April ... which I rarely look at 'cos they are rarely relevant to WA ... but there was woodworking stuff ... including a 12" jointer. Cue the Drool.

Long story short ... having decided that even at only $580-ish I dare not add another largely immovable object to what is jokingly referred to as my driveway ... I found that I scored the backup bid ... 8" taiwanese/carbatec jointer for about $380+fees. And a very large van, but that's off topic.

The jointer had to sit out the front for a couple of days before I could get it around the back. There was light rain, and this was the result. No idea why I didn't think to cover it ... I covered other stuff.

Soon enough, jointer around the back ... sand + clean ... adjust ... test ... WD40. Very good.

That was in April ... mid-way?
Since then it has only had this tarp over it ...

One to two weeks later ...

and today ... three to four weeks after it arrived .... and it has been raining steadily for a few days.

The WD40 was pooled on thick after cleaning back the rust and left to dry for 30 minutes, then done again.
It dries to a vaseline/paste-wax cross.

    Cheers,
    Paul
