Default Best Xmas Pressy You Ever Had?

What was the best Xmas present you ever had? This is something of a rhetorical question because I am not really expecting any body to answer that, mainly because the best pressy ever would probably get the thread struck off the record .

However, this one of mine comes close on a couple of scores. Firstly, just the sheer, unadulterated beauty of the product: A set of Harold and Saxon chisels in all their glory.

Just a little detail on the bevels, which to my mind are a masterpiece:

The handles are Desert Rosewood. The transition from ferrule to timber is seamless. Absolutely seamless:

Just a little bit of history

    P1030206.JPG

Harold & Saxon were two of Trent's relatives (Uncles I think, but I will have to check that with him) who held a special place in his life.

I believe the back oreders are starting to be shipped out so I hope they will be there for Xmas, but if not very soon in the New Year.

The second tick for the best present is that Trent Powrie is back.

Oh, there was one little mishap on my part. I bought the chisel roll even before I had placed the order for the chisels. That was my level of confidence that I would have some H & Ss one day. It has been sitting folded up for, well, a long time. The pockets were as flat as the back of the chisels and I had the devil's own job sliding the chisels in. The small chisels were the worst. I worked out that I had to slide them in bevel down. However the first one took it's revenge before I worked out bevel down. I did not even realise that I had done this:

Ooops! So very sharp, but it's OK. Sharp is good.

Very nice Paul. Good to hear that Trent is getting back to it.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Wow,I can't believe I'm saying this but there beautiful chisels.
The Desert Rosewood really does them justice.
I doubt they will be rolling around in the back of the ute Paul.
For a island nation with a small population we really are blessed with some incredible gifted individuals.
I really don't think enough of us appreciate how lucky we are in oz with craftspeople and even more so with tool makers.

    Cheers Matt

Slightly better than a handkerchief & a pair of socks......

As I say, you don't need beautiful tools to do good work, but they do inspire you to try your absolute best!

    Cheers,

I am guessing that you used to get handkerchiefs and socks too. If I ever get those again, I'm sending them back. Chisels and handsaws only nowadays .

Default I hope I'm next in line .

It is good to hear that Trent is back doing what he does really best in producing a fine Australian crafted handtool.

I hope he has'nt forgotten me as my order has been for quite a while now and I hope he has me in his sights for a delivery.
