Align Table Saw Blade - Carbatec 10" Contractors Saw
Hi Folks,
I've just joined this forum today, so apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have a Carbatec 10" Contractors Saw. I have found that the blade has moved out of alignment recently (approx 0.5mm) as per the attached photos.
When the blade is tilted to 45 deg this issue is exacerbated further and the blade actually touches the guard.
I can't seem to find any info on how to bring this back into alignment - the machine manual doesn't have anything on this either.
Does anyone have experience with aligning the blade on this saw?
Thanks,
Stan

Welcome Stan....
definitely needs alignment.....blade to mitre slot, fence to mitre slot....all parallel.
i have a table saw (Hybrid cabinet saw) and the alignment procedure is different to a contractor saw. On a table saw the table is rotated to align the blade to slot.
but with a contractors saw its the trunion that is rotated to align I believe.
here is a You Tube link on setting up a contractor saw...... How to Tune a Contractor Table Saw 008 - YouTube
im sure there are other forum members who own your saw type and can answer better the method....
it it can be frustrating sometimes to setup machinery but perseverance will be rewarded .....
good luck......

I would expect that there are 4 bolts which attach the trunnion to the tabletop (it is on mine but it is not a Carbatec). Have a look inside to see if you can find them and it will be just a matter of loosening them a little and either lever or use a hammer and piece of wood to tap the trunnion until the blade is parallel with the mitre slots. Do not loosen the bolts too much as you need a bit of friction between the trunnion and tabletop so it stays where you put it before tightening. Once you get the alignment you are after, slowly tighten each bolt a bit at a time and recheck the alignment as you go. It might take a few goes to get the desired result.

If the Contractor's Saw has suddenly gone out of alignment by that much, I think I'd be looking for the root cause, rather than simply realigning it. If the alignment bolts were tight to start with, then the saw blade alignment shouldn't move in normal use. When looking for the root cause of the misalignment, I'd start by checking for loose bolts. If the machine has been transported recently, then I'd look for transport damage. If the machine has had a lot (meaning heaps) of use, then I'd look for wear being a possible cause.

Thanks all for the replies,
I managed to get a carbatec technician out and we got the blade aligned (within 0.005mm) when in a 90 degree position.
However in the 45 degree position the blade is 0.7mm out (this is the misalignment dimension from front of blade to rear of blade).
I believe this is because the trunion is not sitting square with the table. The front end of the trunion may be higher than the rear.
I think trying to fix this will be a lot of work...
What kind of tolerances do you set your machinery to?

I wouldn't be happy with 0.7mm difference between front and back of the blade......0.7 is significant enough for me to ask Carbatec what they are going to do about fixing or replacing this....
cheers
