How do you use - anglefinder vs tilt stops
Just curious about how those who own anglefinders (bevel boxes, inclinometers, digital angle guages) use them - in relation to whether you still continue to use the tilt stops.
Do you still use the tilt stops, or do you nullify the tilt stops by moving them past the 90 and 45 degree marks and use the angle finder to set the angle in all cases.
cheers

Aaron,
I use a digital angle finder to calibrate my tilt stops.
I don't own high-end machines so, if I'm doing an important cut, I'll double check them, but they seem to hold their calibration.
On most machines you should be able to adjust the vernier scales to align with your calibration, but I really don't trust them all that much

Yep,thats what I was aiming at but didnt explain too well. I was wondering if I can expect to get good reliability out of the stops, or whether people just give up on them and use the bevel guage.
Cheers

Like Ian, I use the digital to set the stops and for odd cuts at other than 45 and 90.
I am using a 1960's tilt top tablesaw and a slightly younger radial arm saw. Both are quite repeatable when using stops, but can be dicky to get the stops spot on without the digital.

I use a digital angle finder for setting blade for bevel cuts only. It's very precise...zero to the table first. For mitre cuts I use either my mitre gauge ( which is very accurate - Incra) with my TS for certain smaller jobs or more often I use my SCMS.
cheers
