Australian contractor Tablesaws have dado capability?
Hello everyone,
My first post on the forum.
I am looking at buying a contractor tablesaw.
The Australian versus American models which often have slightly different suffixes added to the end of the model number.
The American ones have dado capability but the ones in Australia don't mention it?
American Site - Dewalt DWE7491RS
10" Jobsite Table Saw 32 - 1/2" (82.5cm) Rip Capacity, and a Rolling Stand - DWE7491RS | DEWALT
Australian Site - Dewalt DWE7491XE
Home - Products - Powertools - Machinery - Table Saws - 254mm Table Saw - DEWALT
No mention of dado capability on the Australian model.
Does Australia have restrictions on contractor table saws having dado capability??
Does any one have the Australian model and use a dado set on the DWE7491??
Can anyone recommend a contractor tablesaw available in Australia with Dado capabilities?
Regards

Hi wanderanwills
Welcome to the Forum.
Sorry, cannot help you on dado stacks.
But with electrical stuff - tools, fridges, stoves, TV's, whatever - the makers commonly use different suffixes on the model numbers for different markets. Its how they restrict warrantee claims for their local agents.
Commonly the items are identical. The hype about "made for Australian conditions" is just that - hype. Those same goods are also made for German conditions, made for Japanese conditions, made for american conditions, etc. Only the suffix varies.
Cheers
Graeme

Arbor diameter is right for a dado but will depend on arbor length. I suspect most bits of those saws will be the same but only a look at one will tell. You need to go to a shop and have a look. You will need about 19mm of arbor out past the lock nut. That said dado sets are not encouraged much outside the USofA these days and in Europe not at all. Unless you will need to cut shed loads of trenches you can get by with a router. I have a dado set but seldom use it due to faffing around changing blades. They are a fiddle to set up with spacers and test cuts to get the exact width of cut. If you had a spare saw set up with one all the time then fine.

The other issue with saws like the Dewalt, is that although the US model is spec'ed to accommodate a 13/16" dado (= 20.6 mm) the AUS motor may not have the power to dado that width in an Australian hardwood.
