Blade alignment - Jet JPS 10" ProShop
Hi All,
A bit of advice please. Was ripping a bit of timber yesterday and noticed the back of the blade was in contact with the 'save' piece of wood which caused a burn, no flames. Cause = blade out of alignment approx 0.5 mm but I don't have a dial gauge so this is only an estimation. Referring to the manual suggests that I should measure the difference between the alignment of front and back of the blade in relationship to the mitre slot, invert the TS and adjust the trunions. Recheck alignment and repeat if necessary....well, just getting to the trunions seems to be a bit of a complex business. So next stop, google for other solutions and low and behold a couple of posters suggested adjusting the TS table top in its upright position rather than going down the path of inversion and trunion adjustment. Seems very sensible to me. I inspect the TS and noticed three very accessible points where the TS top is fixed to the TS body. It seems to me this would be very a very simple and achievable method of re-aligning the TS blade.
Any advice on experience in either method and potential pitfalls or benefits would be greatly appreciated.
kind regards to all.

Yes that's how you adjust a cabinet or hybrid table saw. I'm not aware of the technical aspects of your particular saw but looks like a contractor's saw.....these are trunnion adjusted normally as the trunnion is attached to the top unlike the cabinet /hybrid saw. If your trunnion is not attached to the table top then you're good to go with table adjustment only.
cheers

Is this the same saw??

If so, Page 19 of the manual says to adjust by loosening the table top fasteners

Thanks Lappa,
I believe the TS's are indeed the same. I have however noted differences between the manual you referred to and the one that came with my saw (serial No. 13051822).
My manual is:
*for serial numbers 1120136 and higher
*Revision B1 04/2012
*Copyright 2012 Walter Meier (Manufacturing) Inc
The one you show on your post is:
*for serial numbers 14053173 and higher
*Revision 05/2014
*Copyright 2014 JET
The main differences that I have been able to identify so far have been the sections relating to blade adjustment (sections 10.3.6 through to 10.3.10 have been replaced with new version 10.3.6 through 10.3.9) and also in the newer version of the manual a section 10.4 which deals with belt adjustment and replacement which was missing from the earlier version of the manual.
So thank you very much for pointing me to the newer version of the manual...now off to adjust the blade alignment.
kind regards
interesting
