    The idea of dropping the blade right out of the way is a good one even if the blade is dead stopped, If u have ever slipped while sharpening a chainsaw and made contact with a chain even with the chain not moving it still it can open a finger or hand up fairly easily.

    Yes. I brushed a thumb across the edge of an unmoving tablesaw blade 10 days ago. It created a small, but deep nick at the tip of the thumb. It is still throbbing. Luckily the blade was not moving!
