Default New Fence For A Secondhand Tablesaw

I've got an old Taiwanese TS (even got a sliding table that I'm slowly fettling. One of the issues with it is the 2mm bow in the rip fence. The clamping ends remove so I'll probably buy another piece of aluminium to replace the fence.
Any issues with using a piece of box steel instead?

Has anybody who has done this job (replaced just the fence and not buy a whole new assembly) got any tips?
We don't know how lucky we are......

Over 100 views, an nuffin? Not a peep?

So, nobody has ever replaced the fence (just the aluminium fence not the adjustment mechanism) on their tablesaw. Not ever?

And while I'm in a complaining mood, whatever happened to the 'edit' function on this forum? Because I will admit that the original post could benefit from a firm edit.

Wouldn't have a clue but so you can have at least some food for thought, here goes.
aluminium square section tube has a defined corner/edge and would be best for a fence. Many people buy bigger bits to use as straight edges for paving building etc.
steel square section has what I refer to a pencil round edge and not necessarily straight.
this may even prompt responses from others
    but this is my 2bobs
