Do you mean mitre saw? I was not aware that Festool were making much in the way of table saws.

If you need the portability I suppose it can't be beat. However, we are talking about cabinet saw prices! Still Makita, DeWalt, Bosch and every other man and his dog manage to make something very similar that is nearly as good for a whole lot less!!!

Interestingly, you can buy the FESTOOL PRECISIO Trimming saw (CS 50 EB-Set) for£1,746.00 in the UK (here) (approximately $2726). The same item here is listed as $3,300.

Then again I'm not surprised. Festool sell US$27 boxes of sandpaper for AU$97. I could buy it retail in the US, make a 100% markup and still be competitive against their local retail prices.

I don't know who Festool think they are fooling anymore.

$2700!!! for the Festool saw is way over the top. For $1700 you can go to Carbatec and buy a very good saw and keep $1000 in your pocket.

I think the ryobi saws a good and they are cheep only around $300 but it is up to you what you want from your saw and how much you are willing to spend.

I would not pay 3k for that even after a long afternoon in the pub! Not even a table saw. I cant see that doing any better job than the Makita, Bosch or Dewalt small saws you have looked at. It is perhaps slightly better quality than the other 3 but the size of the table and weight of the machine still put limits on what it can do. You will be paying for the name. As chook pointed out a decent cast iron top table saw can be had for about half that.

Hi, I think you are looking at the wrong tool.

For sculpture, I think a bandsaw much more appropriate as it will allow you to rough shape a piece, a task that is near impossible to do safely with a tablesaw.

For picture frames, you should be looking at a mitre saw.

Undoubtedly the festy would do the job but its a site saw for building, but like Ian is saying you may well be better off with a bandsaw and a mitre/drop saw for sculpture work, tablesaws are for ripping along the lenght in a straight line... Id get all three but a proper cabinet saw not the festy

I am curious why you thought the models you mentioned would not do the job that you are asking of them
