Default Flat Top Dado Saw Blade ?

I'm considering a 6mm flat top dado saw blade to install on my Dewalt DW745 'job site' saw for finger joints. Measured the arbor at 20mm long and then put a 6mm spacer + the 'washer' (proper name unknown) and the nut on, which ends up equal with the end of the arbor. Do I need some thread to spare to use this type of blade safely ?
The blade body looks thinner than the teeth so perhaps I'd have a little more to spare with the actual blade installed.

    Thanks in advance,

I'll say at the outset that I can only look online at specifications, as I don't have this model of saw myself.

But I seemed to remember discussion of dado stacks with this saw, so I looked it up.

If you have this saw: Home - Products - Powertools - Machinery - Table Saws - 254mm Lightweight Table Saw - DEWALT

Then the user manual for it should be this one (?): http://service.dewalt.co.uk//PDMSDoc...45-typ4_xe.pdf

If I'm on the right track so far, then you should very carefully read page 15 - the saw is intended for use with 250mm (10 inch) blades (the one you link to is 8 inch). It also mentions that it isn't designed to use with a dado stack - I know you want to use a single blade of the stack - I'm not sure how safe/possible that would be, so personally, I'd be avoiding it myself.

I can't foresee any problems with you using this blade. You're talking about an extra 3mm of blade body thickness, it will be of no consequence. A single blade IS NOT a dado stack.

I agree with aldav. Its just a thicker kerf blade. Provided the holding nut can be fully threaded on I can't see a problem. You will likely need to make a zero clearance insert plate however.
I may get one of those myself as I find that I would hardly ever use the entire width of my dado stack and all that messing with spacers can be a chore

If it's for cutting box joints, perhaps you should consider one of these Forrest Finger Joint Set - Lee Valley Tools
or one of these Saw Blades | Dado Sets | Box Joint Cutter Set

more expensive that Timbercon's offering, but perhaps more versatile

One thing to always be mindful of - wide kerf blades demand more power and torque from the motor!

That is the main reason for the development of thin kerf blades for cordless power saws - they require less power so enhance battery life. No tradie really wants to save 1mm of MGP10 per cut!

Feed rate to suit the cut and besides it is unlikely you would do really deep cuts with it either.
