    Default Hafco SB-12 Blade Alignment

    Hi All,

I have recently picked up a second hand Hafco SB-12. Its in pretty good nick but I do want to ensure it is all aligned to start with.

First step is to make sure the blade is aligned with the mitre slots in the top. It looks like the back of the blade is close by 1mm. I reckon that is worth addressing.

My question is, should I take off the extensions and the Fence rails to first straighten the top? This might make it easier to tap it into place, however it will mean I need to reset those pieces later too.

    Am I overthinking it?

    Cheers

I just did the alignment on my recently purchased 2nd hand SB-10.
I had it all apart when I did the table top without the wings, but I’d do it again in the future with wings attached. Way too much mucking around taking off the wings to realign the table top

I uncovered this video in my travels and found it incredibly helpful. It demonstrates the re-alignment on the SB-12 and exactly what to loosen and what not to

Thanks all for your help so far. I suppose I could start a new thread for this question ... not sure what the protocol is.

    But anyway

I am wondering if it is possible to slide the rails further to the right along the saw.

Because it is second hand, I didn't set them up originally and the instructions are very unclear. I could loosen them and find out, but then I am faced with a potentially very fiddly alignment processs? Maybe not?

It looks to me like the bolts that attach the rails fit into the t-slot, so it should be a simple lossen and slide along. Is that right?

    Cheers

Be a bit particular about what video advice you follow from that guy, his enclosure of the back of his saw to 'improve' dust collection is a lesson in everything that you can do wrong.

Yes just loosen the bolts and slide along to whatever you want, be mindful that you’ll have to set up the ruler on the front fence if it’s installed, probably a new ruler too if it doesn’t peel easily
