    Default Hafco SB-12 or ST-254?

Only two days left in H&F's sale and I've narrowed the choice down to these two models as affordable.
the 12: W452 | SB-12 Table Saw | For Sale Sydney Brisbane Melbourne Perth | Buy Workshop Equipment & Machinery online at machineryhouse.com.au
the 245: W486 | ST-254 Table Saw | For Sale Sydney Brisbane Melbourne Perth | Buy Workshop Equipment & Machinery online at machineryhouse.com.au

Is there much of a difference between the accuracy of these two models?
Any reason why a space restricted, occasional (yet aspiring to be accurate) woodworker wouldn't choose one or either of these please?

Not sure I need the 300mm blade on the SB-12 and would prefer some dust extraction on the front of the blade guard, but the price is better, and I've 15A plugs in the shed to handle it.

Anyone prefer the 254 over the SB12? If so, why please? Any difference between the accuracy of the fences or mitre gauges?

Would I be happy with either? Neither?

    Thanks.

Hello dropstix, I am in exactly the same dilema you were. If I ask real nice would you tell me what you got and why you chose it over the other.
I'm looking for accuracy for box making, and strength/reliability/repeatability, not so much depth of cut.

If you can get a chance to run both, go for it. Even if just in the showroom. If the vibes from the sb12 are not a concern in practice, I'd probably save some bucks and grab that. I didn't get the chance and chose the st245. It's fine, but I'm not impressed with the cast tables sections. The flatness leaves a wee bit to be desired. Not atrocious, just not utterly flat and the section joins don't line up because of that. Apart from that I have only used it once so haven't really had much chance to get a good feel for it and certainly not long enough to recommend it with any authority. If I had the time again, I'd get in and check the sb12 out in person, because I'm not convinced it isn't just as usefull for my needs, and it's cheaper. Hope that helps.

H'mm, maybe the reason you didn't get any responses is because this subject has been done to death here and to glean the information all you have to do is search?
