    Default Hafco Woodmaster sb12

    Gday everyone ,
I picked myself up a second hand Hafco Woodmaster sb12 today from a local garage sale.
From what I can see everything is there and it appears to be in pretty good shape, the cast iron table top and extensions are rusty but nothing that can't be restored with a little time and elbow grease.
I was wondering if someone has a copy of the manual for the saw as I can not find one on the internet anywhere.
The riving knife hasn't been set up and it is rusty, the saw itself could do with some cleaning up and I would like to have the manual for any repairs that may be needed in the future.
I have found the miter gauge to be sloppy and I will probably replace it with something else. What do you all recommend to use ?
Also the measurement guide on the right hand side has peeled, does this need to be replaced with a brand specific part or is a generic brand suitable to replace it with?

Overall I am really happy with the purchase but but I would like to get these few little issues sorted to make it as good as it can be .

If anyone can upload a copy of the manual or direct me to where it can be downloaded would be awesome.

Look forward to reading your suggestions

    John

    g'day Coolamon

I will swap you a copy of the owner manual and parts list for details of how the blade rise and fall is set up on your saw (see previous post).
It is easy to see the parts just remove the lock nut then the hand wheel just slides off and the workings are exposed.

If this is a deal PM me with your details and i can copy my manual and post it to you.

The mitre gauge is pretty ordinary I have just put a bit of masking tape on mine as a temporary fix to take up the slop, i don't think anyone actually uses the riving knife as supplied, it's about as good as the mitre gauge, well maybe not quite as good.

    Cheers Rick.

    Gday Rick,
Thanks for your reply , appreciate it.
I have had a look at hight adjustment unfortunately my one
Is a little broken with the pin that the wheel locks onto being snapped inside the hole..
I have punched the pin out with a center punch and I will continue to take the rest of it apart in the morning.
I will post some pics tomorrow for you mate.
    Cheers

    Thanks John,

That would be great if I can see the parts arrangement I will be able to tell if I am missing any and the correct location and order.

    Cheers

    Gday Rick,
Mate I haven't been able to get the assembly apart due to the metal spring clip that sits behind the handle assembly.
I am going to bunnings during the week to get the tool to remove the clip without damaging it.
Once I have it I will take the pictures for you.
    Cheers

    Hi Rick,

I would appreciate a copy of the SB-12 Manual? I have mine upside down on a workbench at the moment. After cleaning every speck of sawdust and fiberglass (would you believe) from everywhere I can access, I am about to lubricate the mechanism, reattach the base and legs and adjust as much of the, considerable, backlash in both height and tilt wheels as I dare to! Having the manual would make this job a lot more easier than it has been so far without one!
I am taking some detailed photos this morning, of the the clean mechanism! If you or any SB-12 owners would like copies of the photos for reference I am happy post them! If anybody wants specific areas of the mechanism photographed close up, you have maybe a week, to PM me before the final assembly and adjustments are done and I finish this project!

    Bill
