Harvey HW110LGE30
Hi folks, Has anyone bought the above saw from Bigger boys toys? It appears to be an earlier version of the alpha? If so how was the buying experience and how's the saw. Cheers David

I haven't got one but the general consensus on this forum from guys that have Harveys is that they're excellent. Pretty much without exception they're satisfied customers. Someone who owns one should pipe up with feedback soon enough.

I bought this model from Bigger Boys Toys a couple of years ago. No issues with BBT at all - great service. Only an hour from them so pick up was easy. I'd buy off them again.
As for the tablesaw, I love it. I've added a Wixey digital readout to the fence and an incra crosscut sled, both of which make it an amazing package. Plenty of power too. I recommend the saw.
With 2 young kids taking an interest in woodwork, I could consider selling this to buy a Saw Stop in the future, but it would only be for the safety feature, nothing against the Harvey model.

I have an ambassador c200 and love it, nothing against BBT but i'd seriously look at the Alpha series if you in that price range.... The HW range is still current but the Alpha/Ambassador series seems to have the development behind it now
Either way you won't go wrong with a Harvey

Thanks Phil. I was leaning towards the lge 30 due to the shorter fence - the equivalent alpha has 36 "which I don't need and will get in the way. I suppose I could cut the rails shorter but that would seem a shame. It also claims to have a bigger motor though motor power claims are a bit open to interpretation in my exp. From what I can gather the main differences seem to be the fancy mitre guage and dual measures on the fence. Are there any other upgrades in the alpha that I should be aware of? The one I'd get is out of stock at present which is another issue. Cheers David

Just checked out the one listed on gregmech, not sure exactly which model, but i found it interesting that they have gone back to the HW110 model naming after the Alpha name.... need to pull the harvey main site apart again for my own education.
The fancy mitre gauge looks really nice and very useful, i use my basic one all the time but just might buy that one, looks excellent. dual measurements on the hilo fence setup would be a godsend. I got around it initially buy sticking down two tapes and then just added a wixey gauge.
Your right motor power is always open to interpretation.
The .com site has a great page ALPHA HW110LC-36P 10" 2HP Cabinet Table Saw – Harvey Woodworking
Also don't discount that extra 6 inches of fence, but that depends on what your going to be doing, i'm personally at the limits of the 30" fence enough to wish i had the extra.
Cheers
Phil

The Harvey's seem to tick more boxes for me but how efficient is the dust collection setup?

I too have a 30" fence on my Carbatec saw. Working in a single car garage that is 3.2m wide the extra 6" length could be a little compromising. 150mm doesnt seem like much but in a small workshop it could be the difference between snagging it every time I walk past or not.
The 760mm crosscut capacity can be limiting if you're making relatively high cabinets, which all my work shop cabinets are due to me being 6' 3", but at this length it can be easier to use a track saw or circular saw with straight edge. For the most part I dont find I maximise the crosscut capacity of the 30" rails.
