Default Harvey Mini Master HPS 1600 E

    Hi,

I have an opportunity to purchase the above saw from a person who purchased it for a big contract, which has since fallen through. The saw from our initial conversation with the owner is its brand new and has all the attachments included. My understanding by the attachment is the extension leg (I would have assumed this was standard) dust extractor over the blade and the router table. Apparently it will take full sheets I assume he mean 2400 x 1200.

Considering I'm in the market for a sliding table saw figured I would check it out, as its already in the NT just down the road from me and may save me a bit of coin.

I guess my question is, has anyone used Harvey equipment, in particular this unit and what are the pro's and con's. I have also not been able to find anyone selling one to get a price guide. Any thoughts on a price guide? I have put a link not sure it will work never posted a link before. I may try and check it out later today and I will post some photos and a price they are seeking.

    Thanks
    Brian

Page not found on your Facebook link just to let you know.

You'll find Harvey are well regarded around here in terms of their normal table saws, I would imagine their sliders would also be of very good quality. Have seen one of their table saws in person, and would be happy to own one myself.

Well have managed to do a little research into this machine, and found some reviews on this forum in regard to Harvey equipment. The reviews that I found are very positive.

Having checked the saw out again, sad to say I am unable to purchase, I missed the part where it said 3 Phase. So now looking at the saw for the men shed I'm involved in, considering we have been looking for a saw to replace the little Dewalt currently in play. This saw, will more than cover anything the men at the shed would toss at it, I also feel is much safer unit to work with, this does not take away people will need to be shown how to use this piece of equipment.

The first two photos show the saw with the dust extractor in place and over the blade, photos taken off the net. The other photos is the actual table saw without the dust extractor installed and the information plate. The dust extractor is part of the purchase. Initial I thought there was a router table as part of this unit, not the case.

From the information I was able to source the motor is a 4 HP leeson. The overall cost of this unit was around the $9000 mark and discussions with the owner we maybe able to pick this unit up for $5500, although I feel we may still have a bit of room to move down. A lot to consider at this stage.

I will say at the very outset that I don't really understand what I'm going to suggest (mainly because I've seen it in passing here on the forums, but never looked into it because I had no need) - but there are very clever people here who can elaborate.

I believe you can buy a device called a VFD that will allow a 3 phase machine to run on a single phase power source.

I hope this lead may prove fruitful for you!

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have also read about conversions using a VFD, to be honest I never popped up as a light bulb moment, assuming this saw would have been a candidate for such a devise. Moot point now, the Men Shed I am involved in is purchasing this saw and it will replace our little Dewalt unit. If I'm truly honest with myself this saw would have been an over kill in my shed for the work I plan on doing.

The men shed is in the process of replacing / purchasing new equipment for our growing membership so this saw will be a huge starting point. We are also in the process of installing our dust extractor unit and reconfiguring the whole wood work section, the timing is just about spot on.
