Thread: Harvey sawtable - router table extension - fitting router

No idea, but thought I’d follow this post as a Harvey saw is on my shopping list !

Decided to take the extension of and fit the router. Much easier on the body than doing it upside down.
I turned a centering plug on the lathe which worked out great.��
Used slightly longer locking bolts in the brackets and used a thread lock on them.
Will post photos tomorrow from work.

Made a centering plug, to make sure the router was located properly. Then used that to draw around the base of the router.
Made a small mistake which doesn't affect operation. I should have rotated the router maybe 45 degrees, that way the power switch and height coarse adjusting handle would have been easier to reach.
whilst at it I made some round soft foam plugs to go into the router riser arms to keep dust out.

Was the hole for the Triton wind up already in the table or did you drill it? I'm still not clear how you positioned that accurately.

No. I had to drill it.
Drilled from the underside. You can see the indent in the scribed pencil line.
Used that and marked the center as close as possible with the eyeball.

Jeeze, sounds convoluted. Glad I went with incra. What gets me, is that instead of having mounting screws to suit specific router bodies it's just a few clamps. Possible it may move over time?

Also, I think you'll want to rotate the router fence 180 degrees on to the other side of the router and then you can use the router table from the end of your table saw. More comfortable/ergonomic position to work in. All the photos of the harvey setup i've seen is in the configuration you have shown but most other router tables work on the opposite side. As per image.

Correct re the fence. I have tried various positions and that seems the best. Re router shifting, I don't think so as the clamps are fairly substantial and I used a thread lock compound to prevent vibrations moving/loosening them.
