Help on infill between fence rails
I'm thinking of replacing left hand extension wing on table saw with sliding table (e.g. Carbatec or JessEm Mastrslide). I'm planning to move fence rails across rather than cutting them down, which will give me greater rip capacity. However, this will increase the size of void between rails on right, which can be annoying when cutting thin sheets. Could I use left hand cast iron wing removed for slider as an infill extension to cover some of the void on right?
Just worried that the extra weight might stress the align-a-rip rails, especially given they will have fewer anchor points on the table proper if I move the rails across. I can make an MDF infill table, but it seems a shame to waste such a nice, flat cast iron extension wing.
Any suggestions welcome, thanks.
