Hi Spicko,
Have you left the plate that slides to give access to the saw blade in open position. There is a lever that acts as a safety switch. It has a wheel that pops through a little cut out. Hope that helps

I have closed the door and the lever points to the 9 oclock position. I also opened the fuse cover and all looks ok with a green light on. Still no luck😭

Have a look at "minimax owners group" site. They have a bit of stuff there on cu300 minimax. I would imagine they have the same interlock system. Also there is a guy on youtube who goes under the name of "sunny beeches" He has a fair bit of stuff on the older model of cu300. Again they may have the same interlock system. Yes I agree they have the most pathetic owner manuals around. What is the use of compressed diagrams?

I did look at the sunnybeaches dud and he might be onto something, these machines have some many connecting safety buttons and all connected in series. I just know of 3.
I looked into this, the wiring and it all looks fine.
I am starting to suspect the cable it came with from carbatec.
I will keep on looking at it because right now i just have a giant paperweight.

If they have failed to use the specified cable size which is 4 square mm on all 3 wires, then you may not have a connection at all.

"Pulled the safety stops"
On my SC2 saw, the estop is a twist to release (to enable the saw).

If the saw is new, then get in touch with support. You've paid for it.

Ross, what do you mean?

They haven't connected a wire?

A wire being undersized is incredibly unlikely to stop the saw starting. You would have to use absolutely tiny wire to get enough voltage drop to result in the saw now starting. An undersized wire would be a fire hazard.

I was assuming this machine has the euro style plug that goes on the machine side of the power cord. The 3 wires are inserted into the plug unbared.
There are 3 little toggles that when activated drive a small split plate into each wire piercing the insulation on either side while pinching the copper wire core. That is what the sparkey showed me. These euro type plugs were designed for 4 mm wire. So there is no guarantee if you use less than 4mm wire there will be a sound connection. There will be a sheet of paper in his manual about the wire size. I was surprised Carbatec supplied a cord. When I bought my Sc2 and Fs30 all I got was a plug for each. Hope this helped.

Ross, thanks for the info, that makes sense

I bought the biggest cable I could find, 2.5mm2 per wire, which is superior to the one used for campervans, rewired it and.... the same. When I connect it, the machine makes a short humming sound and the a light inside the fuse box turns green. However, still the machine does not start.
Now, when i meant 'pulling' the safety switches, i really mean turning them so they pop out.
So everything is in order and it should work, which makes me think that it must be a safety somewhere i am no aware of and it is activated.
So annoying, i was looking forward to start it this weekend but it seems it is not meant to happen.

The most likely problem is one of the interlocking safety switches is either open, or is faulty. When I got my CU300 I had a switch fail within three months of receiving it.

Another possibility (though more remote) is an over-voltage has caused a failure. Rare, but it happened to me.

If it isn't an open safety switch, just call CarbaTec. Get them to get the SCM technician out. You don't want to deal with SCM as Joe Consumer unless you really Really REALLY have to.

A humming noise is more likely to be a mechanical problem rather than an electrical one. If it’s a wiring problem, it will just not work - it won’t try to spin and then cut out, nothing at all will happen.

Does it spin freely when disconnected from electricity?

It was a bit silly. The jointer outfeed lifts to become a thicknesser. When down, there are a couple of screws that maintain distance to the cutter block. I only had to screw a bit further and this disengages a satety that is there to prevent the cutter block damaging the table.
