some help with table saw
I have decided to give a go at making some small woodwork projects, a bit of a coffee table, small book case, toy box etc.
So yesterday I went to Bunnings and bought a table saw TS 720 for $82.00
( I can already see the smiles) but hopefully it will do what I want it to.
However with it I got a piece of plastic with a V cut into it and in the V a hole, I looked in the manual but there is no indication what it is or it's use.
my obvious question what the hell is it and how do I use it. The only thing on the table top is blade riving knife and fence with graduated scale for cutting width. nothing to attatch this piece of plastic to or be able to use it.
thank you

Hi John,
Depending on how big the piece of plastic is and how big the v groove is, it may be for cross cutting dowel rod to length. Sit the dowel in the groove, back the plastic block against the mitre/cross-cut gauge ( assuming there is one )and slide the gauge along the groove/slot in the saws table top ( again, assuming it has one ). I have a similar thing for my drill press, so the dowel doesn't roll around or move while drilling a hole through it.

help with table saw
thank you for your reply.
the plastic piece is about 100mmx100mm and the slot sides are 100mm each side. There is no slot on the bench top for mitre/crosscut gauge/fence just the ripping fence.
thank you

You have a GMC TS-720
I looked up the spec here and that part is not listed. Maybe some clown threw another part in the box from another machine? A pic would help. No accessories listed for this saw except a blade.

I reckon the plastic bit is meant to run in a slot in the fence, which should put the workpiece at 45º to the saw blade. You may have to shift the fence to the right of the blade to use the "mitre gauge", or turn the fence around.front to back.

I got one of those plastic bits in the tile saw I purchased (Ryobi)
It just sits up against the fence and if you put a tile in it it then cuts it at 45 degrees. so I suspect its meant to do the same as the saw looks just about identical in size and design except it has a saw blade instead of the diamond blade on the tile saw.
