Jet Proshop 10- Any rivals?
Hi again everyone,
I posted a few days ago about the need to upgrade my tablesaw.
I was determined to spend less than $1500 and was considering the carbatec CTJ 650, the Woodman SB12 and the Hafco.
However, now I am thinking with the cost of upgrades, new fences etc I should just stretch the budget and consider the Jet.
I don't have a lot of room, and my saw needs to be somewhat portable as I move around a bit, so a contractors saw is really as big as I can go.
Are there any rivals to the JET Proshop 10 in a similar price range?
I see the Harvey and Laguna are popular alternatives at the $2000 mark but they are both cabinet saws and I think are probably a bit heavy and space consuming for my needs .. (maybe the next upgrade haha)
For the owners out there- how do you find the JET? Any big pitfalls?
Thanks again,
Andrew

The Laguna has built in wheels or you can buy a mobile base for any model for around $100. For around $2000 the fusion and harvey are far better value.

Hi Barribarri,
Thanks for the input.
I did have a look at that thread. I agonised over it for ages as well. As much as I would love a cabinet saw I think the weight will still stop me.
Its around 50KG heavier.
For me- I know I will be moving house again shortly and probably even then will have to move in another couple of years due to the nature of my work-- a contractors saw seems the smart choice as you can still get it on a ute with a couple of blokes.
I do totally agree that the Laguna and Harvey are better value but sadly I probably will have to wait 10 years for a cabinet saw until I am settled in one property.

The laguna is considered a hybrid or in between a cabinet saw and a contractor saw. It weighs about 120 kg and has 2 HP whereas cabinet saws are usually 3 HP or above and weigh about 250 kg. So the laguna could be lifted or wheeled onto a ramp with a couple of blokes. Many have done it.

Thanks Barribarri! I ended up getting the JET as planned, but I must admit I will always have some doubts. To be honest, you probably were right but there is no point dwelling on it. I had also seen the Jet in action and was very happy with its function, but admittedly had not seen the Laguna.
That being said its now time to just enjoy my new saw ( regardless of whether is was the right choice).
Hope your enjoying your Laguna I see you have recently bought on another forum.
Cheers
