Default New Jet Xacta model...the "deluxe"

Looks good to me. It seems to have some of the powermatic pm-2000 parts/features added (fence, blade guard, riving knife, an arbor stop lock thingy) and a few other improvements to the standard xacta model.

Since I was seriously looking at the 10" xacta, I wonder how long this will take to hit our shores. Is it replacing the xacta or is just a 'deluxe' version? Will it cost a bit more? Too many questions. Will have to see if Gregory machinery know anything about it yet.

    Cheers

By comparison, Woodcraft (in the US) are selling this saw at $1899 with a 50" fence, 3HP 1PH. The similarly equipped PM2000 would be about $2300. I say about as I can't find a bare bones PM2000 equivalent and these are obviously US dollar prices.

On top of that you have to buy a mobile base, if you need one, and a mitre guage. The basic Jet mitre guage is is just that, basic. The Powermatic mitre guage while not the best on the market is actually pretty usable as it comes.

If the 'Xacta deluxe' is a full replacement for the Xacta and it retails in Australia for the same price as the current xacta 10", it would be very hard to spend the extra on the PM2000 over the Xacta Deluxe.

For the extra 700-800 AUD, the pm2000 would only give you the trick castor system, more weight (so I assume more solid castings and construction) and yellow paint. That's about all the real differnces as far as I can tell.

In saying that I might buy a pm2000 anyway for the added enjoyment of looking at it
