Metabo Magnum Tk 1256
Hi guys (and gals),
Been a while since my last post but I thought I'd make a thread over this bench saw I picked up a while back. The condition was criminal but I managed to snap it up for 250 Euro so the price was about right.

Breaks your heart when you see how some people/companies treat their tools.
Anyway, those who know my posts will also know that the first thing I did was break it down. I then sanded it all back and resprayed it. Overhauled the bearings on the shaft while I was at it and ordered the missing/damaged parts.

Here's a few pics of the saw bench as she looks now. I recently moved house and this is still in the old workshop ready for sale in eBay. It's pretty dusty but you get the idea. Hope it gives someone as much pleasure over the next years as the one I've still got has given me.

Dear Damien,
Nice Break-Down shots! Ahhh, just sensing the relative portability of that sweet shiny cast-alloy Trunnion, and the quietness of that massive almost-oversized Induction motor... . Honestly dunno why there aren't more Table-Saws made that way...
So, what's the flatness like on that cast-alloy Table? They could have been a bit more generous with the width of the Fence-clamp by the looks of it. Chip-Case steel certainly appears to be a decent guage. Looks like a great setup for site-work. Nice find...
Best Wishes,
Batpig.

Hi Batpig!
The fence clamp is a two part affair that clamps at the front and cams the back. If you look closely, you will see a lever atop the main clamp knob. This is a lift and lock ratchet that cams the back. It's lift and lock because the fence is two parts. Here's a bit more info on it from an old post. Table top is anodised cast alu with ribbing. No warping me thinketh...Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

G'day again, as you say it has been a little while.
Good to see that you are still at it - saving and restoring fine tools - a pleasure to see.
Regards,
Bob
