Does anybody own one of these? ST-12D - Table Saw
I was up at H&F on Thursday and I looked at their ST-12D - Table Saw. ( Error | Buy Workshop Equipment & Machinery online at machineryhouse.com.au can find almost nothing about them from a user perspective. Does anybody own or use one regularly? Are they any good? They are certainly cheap enough which makes me very suspicious.

Link did not work for me This one does though W455 | ST-12D Table Saw | For Sale Sydney Brisbane Melbourne Perth | Buy Workshop Equipment & Machinery online at machineryhouse.com.au
Bloody Big 5hp 415V motor (3 phase??) ... can take a dado (not sure of arbor size though) ... you must be going to cut some very big and tough timber to warrant that size rig,
Triple V belt drive to match .. table saw not cabinet saw ..
The only thing is the riving knife ... not sure if the pic show a blade guard of the knife ... I dont like knives above the blade (can always trim it down though
Regards
Rob

We are moving to a new home later this year. When we do I will look into the feasibility of getting 3 phase power. I suppose it will either be prohibitively expensive or against the law but it would be nice to have access to it. The ST 12D requires a 20 amp plug at 240V. I already have that.

I don't see anything about 3 phase power, I do see that it is a 2,200W motor, which, divided by 745 = 2.95 which is an approximate horsepower rating. I read the manual and there are two versions according to the wiring sequence section. Single phase and three phase wiring guides are included, perhaps a telephone call would help to ascertain which unit they are selling.
I cannot speak for where you live, but a close friend had three phase power connected to his suburban street house (Melbourne) for hobby purposes, which was a metal lathe. If it had been for work, I seem to remember it would not be easily allowed, but for a hobby, not a problem. Cost him somewhere around $750 and a smart meter installed, this was about 2 years ago.
You would need to find out if your street has single, two or three phase street wiring. Often a simple look at the number of power lines in the street will suffice. My own street has two phase street wiring and until we had smart meters installed, we were on two phase. Our house was supplied with two phase until we had solar rooftop panels and a smart meter installed.
Looks like a reasonably nice saw, although I do think the overhead guard is a bit skimpy and certainly would be better if there was dust extraction from any blade guard/shroud. Kickback legs either side of the blade would also be something I would wish to see as well.
Mick.
