I recently read in some news article about testing done by UL on Sawstop, using a dummy human finger at an approach speed of 1m/s, the average depth of cut was something like 2 or 2.5mm. Was a similar depth for the Bosch Reaxx too from memory. 1 metre per second is a decent speed to be moving one's hand toward a spinning saw blade

Is there any material that could cause the blade to do a false drop, is it just related to moisture content or conductivity?

Afaik it monitors changes in capacitance on the blade, so metal, moisture, even plastics may trigger it. By the same token, pitch buildup on the blade may insulate it from contact.

I have had mine for 18months now, and agree it is a great saw. It went off once, but I could not see the reason, and the blade was not damaged and there was only slight indents in the break.
I purchased it as one gets more mature the attention is not what it was a few years ago!
