I have a second hand 2004 model Robland NLX310 which I purchased from a builder in Victoria for $6,000 on ebay. He wanted more but relented in the long run. Absolute great buy. Single phase with 1800 mm Sliding table stroke. Later model has 2400mm stroke.
I had an earlier model NLX 310 back in the mid nineties when I had a business and never had any problems with it.
Depends on your need!
This machine does everthing I now need and more. as a weekend warrior.
Very robust and accurate.
The machine is in the Carbatec brochure at page 36/37(the later model)

Robland Machine
Thats good to hear pen, I have just secured a deal to buy an xtz-30 saw spindle combo at a very good price. But the deal is being done sight unseen from interstate, its great to hear a favorable report on the brand as I have not had anything to do with them before. I only want to buy one decent quality saw that will last me, and give good reliable performance for many years to come. Thanks for the response Dig

I just checked the Carbatec catalogue and the earlier Robland machine I had was the equivalent to the current X-260- the combo with thicknessser, spindle, planer and saw. Very good versatile machine in a small workshop.
A hint with the saw is the check your square setup regularly and keep the roller bearings and rail clean at all times. Seems basic stuff, but you would be suprised at how little attention is paid to the basics in small workshops. Other than that, the other major issue is to treat the spindle with the absolute respect it deserves. No second chances with small spindles, in fact any spindle. The rule is check, tighten and check again before use and never try to do too much too quickly. Small passes each time if needed to get the end result. Hasten very slowly at all times.
If the xtz-30 meets your needs you will get long life and satisfaction from it.

Robland Combo
The deal that I have for the machine is 2K less than the retail price in the carba-tec catalouge and its brand new, which seems to me to be one of those lucky situations where you just happen to be in the correct spot at the correct time. So I did not have much time to think about it, I just had to jump at it. Its very goood to hear your posotive thoughts on the machine. I now have alot of very careful learning ahead of me, as this is the first time that I have used a spindle moulder.
Are there any good books or sites that you could point me in the direction of to help get me started, as in the past I have only ever used router tables. I currently work as an mechanical engineer, and I think it would be hard to contiue working to feed my tool addiction minus a few digits/limbs! Dig

Have a look at the Robland website:
http://www.roblandmachines.com/Defau...d=175&cmsId=23
Go to Products-Combination machines-Options ( takes a while to load) A9995 Router bit Collet 1/4 inch.
I will send you a pm to discuss the other issues you raised and the collet above.

I have a Robland NLX310 combo machine (panel saw with scoring blade,,spindle moulder,thicknesser/jointer,mortiser) I purchased it from HOMAG in Melbourne I bought it after I took redundancy from a factory job before that I worked in the kitchen joinery industry for since 1989 and used a lot of different machines.I currently contract to a few Kitchen and Joinery companies aswell as teach shopfitting/joinery at tafe part time, I purchased the NLX310 after looking at other options including buying a seperate panel saw + thinknesser and jointers ,spindle moulders and done the sums and the Robland was the best value, there are other combo machines around but I liked the idea of a 650mm rip and the scoring blade aswell as being built in Belgium.
I am reluctantly thinking of selling mine for a couple of reasons because I had a change in circumstances, I am 36 yrs old and had it set up in my shed, had our house sold and was just about to build another house, I snapped my achillies playing squash (Nov 08)
so we bought a smaller house in town and I have it stored out at my wifes grandfathers.
And I am having medical checks to see if I have a chronic lung condition and if so I will need to change careers to reduce my exposure to dust.
But to answer your question I love the NLX310 it does everything I want its exactly what I was after I also have the mortise table for it. I also have a seperate blum borer for doing S32 holes and kitchen doors & drawers aswell as a small edge bander
I checked out the new price from Carbi Tech NLX310 $14,695 Mortiser $895
If I was to sell mine I bought a demo model and probably done 100hrs work
I would want $12,000 negotiable for my Robland
Regards Rod

Carba-Tec Christmas Specials
$12000 seems expensive ?
The Robland NLX-310 is listed at $9995 (single or 3-phase) in their Xmas Special Catalogue.
The mortiser attachment is listed at $895 in their regular catalogue.

how to use the spindle on a Robland
Hi folks
I've got a Robland X310, and I would like to learn to use it "Right", especially the spindle which can be rather dangerous, is there and DVD on the marked which can give you a guide line(extended not just the basic use), and maybe for the combination machine.
Have a nice Christmas
