I only use sliders. U dont use sleds on a slider in normal conditions. Cross cutting with a slider leaves the offcut right next to the blade. To remove it u need to reach over/around the blade and flick it away, hands get used often enough even though a pushstick is often within arms reach. Crosscut sleds drag the offcut back with the cut component at the same time so u dont need to reach around the blade.

I dont understand kickback as being a high percentage of accidents. Perhaps its more of a tablesaw thing where it is easy to stand in the line of fire. A huge sliding table kinda forces u to stand to the side of the blade, just like should be done when feeding into a thicknesser. I usually know when kickback is gonna happen, so I setup ply panels on the wall which is line of fire so it doesnt bust up my gyprock walls. It still punches thru the ply often enough though. Happens with right tilt 45degree mitering.....alot.
