You bought a saw without thinking it was good???? Jet are pretty good, not the best in the world but better than 95% of us are capable of exploiting

The main advantage of Jet is that they have their own quality control people actually at the factory in Taiwan or China that is producing their goods, rather than just accepting whatever is shoved in the container.

I know it seems like a silly question, and I probably deserve the cane! I knew JET had a good reputation, thats why I bought it. Its just this particular model is a bit thin on the ground it seems, and I was hoping someone on here may have the same one and could give me some feedback on what they are like. I don't have a user manual either. I tried the JET web site but its not listed in the download archive.
The JET is way better than the old Ryobi I have used for the last couple of years, and I am quite happy with it.

Have a look at some of the books on Tablesaws published by companies such as Taunton or Popular Woodwork - most table saws are pretty generic designs, either 'Contractor' or 'Cabinet' - the biggest change in decades has been the introduction of 'Hybrid' saws, basically 'contractor' saws with the power belt path folded around so the motor & belt are inside the metal cabinet instead of hanging out the back.

Anyhow - for most saws the instruction manual is going to be the same as the guts are all copies of each other, the differences are things like metric or imperial screw threads, or number of bolts. Grizzly and General are other manufacturers with a good web prescence, and online manuals - just look for a similar saw & download the manual as a .pdf - it will be at least 90% correct.

Thanks for the reply and advise!

Yes that looks like its the same saw. Although mine is the white/cream colour that we have here.
Mine is direct drive, not sure what the pros or cons of this are compared the belt drive. there is no play in the bearings and no slop in the endplay of the arbor shaft that I can see or feel anyway.
I spoke to Gary Pye about it and he said they stopped making this model about 5 years ago, it has been wel looked after, the bloke who sold it to me bought a panel saw and this one was hardly used so he sold it to me.
    Thanks...Rob...
