    Default Seeking alternatives to Carbatec

I gather some of the saws from Carbatec are actually generic Chinese models that are available from various suppliers? I'm really fed up with Carbatec stuffing me around and would like to know who some of those other suppliers are. Suggestions here would be most welcome.

Carbatec has stuffed me around for nearly 6 months with an order. Every few weeks I phone them and get "Yeah mate, it'll be here in a week or so. Don't worry, we'll call you as soon as it gets in". Of course, it never arrives and they never call. I have finally ******** **** **** *** **** ** **** *** decided to purchase elsewhere.

Thanks for the link, that might come in handy. I'm looking for alternatives to the Carbatec contractor's table saws. I gather some of them are sold by other retailers but simply with different badges?

Hare and Forbes have the same range of re branded Taiwan and China saws and are generally 10% cheaper than Carbatec.

They also carry a lot more stock.

Timbecon is the other obvious choice.

Machinery House (Hare & Forbes) - NSW
    JET (everywhere)
    Leda (SA)
    Timbecon (WA)

plus a few odd bod others all provide possible alternatives to Carbatec. No need to panic.

Thanks again everyone - they're all very helpful suggestions. I don't think many of them are in Canberra - but I'm going to drive up to Sydney soon (with a trailer!).

    Cheers

If you are having the saw shipped down, then Gary Pye has a bunch of nice Jet saws on special at the moment & is very easy to deal with.

Check out Fitches Sharpening (think its on Whyalla St) in Fyshwick. They sell Jet and I am pretty sure they can sell Carbatec gear too. Don't forget Gasweld & Fishers Discount tools either. Gasweld is very close to Carbatec & Fishers is on Barrier St. I love Fishers, have never asked for a discount and never paid full price. Fishers & Gasweld won't have what your after on the floor but might be able to order gear in.

M&G Industrial supplies, agents for hare&forbes. Geared to metalwork, but should be able to get anything from H&F.
Or do what I do, work out what I want, hitch up the trailer and off to Sydney.
Carbatec in Canberra are basically useless.

I'm on exactly the same page. I'll be doing exactly what you suggest: hitching up the trailer and heading to Sydney. I'm currently checking out the websites of some the useful suggestions above - looking forward to actually having a saw instead of just waiting for one....
