Sliding Panel Saw Dilemma
I purchased a panel saw, it was a great price and, as a sliding table saw it works very very well - BUT - I've had to reduce the size of my workshop by a little over half, and I really could do with swapping it out for a table saw. The table saw would have to have a custom becn built around it in the middle of my new reduced workshop, that I'd use as my main bench most of the time I think.
Wondering, does anyone have any thoughts? Should I just use the sliding panel saw and shut up?

If the room that it takes up is a real problem then remove the outrigger and fit a short fence to the slider.
You can, if things change, then put it back.

What Bohdan says. A cabinet saw with outfeed table and surrounds might actually be bigger.

Bohdan's advice is the same as I would give.
Most (all) sliders allow one to lock the slider in a fixed position. Then you use it as per a tablesaw. If this is still too long for your space, you can either cut down the slider, or purchase/trade a shorter one. The outrigger certainly takes up a lot of space.
Here is my Hammer K3 (1250 slider) with the slider locked down. It takes up no more space than a standard tablesaw (and I can unlock the slider when it is needed). No outrigger ....

Lock the sliding table mid way. Remove outrigger and front fence. Now you have a table saw.

Do you need more than 1200 to the right of the blade?
Put your dusty outside the wall.
Move the bench with vice into the corner on the right side wall.
Just a suggestion re not losing the sliding table.

Park the saw cast iron table or rip fence hard against the wall, there is no need to get to that side of it, if you are cutting panels they will be done on the slider side.

Sorry for the slow reply and thanks for all your suggestions. The picture is of the saw before I moved it to where it is (Down in Queenscliff and I don't get down here as often as I'd like) I use it now with the slider, I've put it on wheels, so I wheel it into the middle of my space (a room about 4mtrs x 4mtrs) and do what I can there. I can't put the fence on, as the rail it attaches too has to be put on, and to put that on, I have to stick the extra part of the table back on... (And then I am flat out of space to do anything)
I love the saw and love the sliding table part of it tbh, maybe I need to cut down the rail that attaches the fence... Hmm!
OR... I get rid of my project bandsaw rebuild that's stalled (a 32" Barker) and use the space it was in.
Anyway - lots to think about, thanks again!
