Sliding saw shoot out.
I'm about to buy a new saw.
I can't get down with sable saws and sleds and whatever, I've always had access to panel saws though work and I know where I'm at with them and I've got the room for a small (1600 table) sliding saw.
I'm considering three options:
minimax
https://iwoodlike.com/product/machin...ding-table-saw
robland
http://www.beyondtools.com.au/produc...xz-by-robland/
woodman
Woodman Eccon Panel Saw - Machinery Maintenance Victoria
My main issues with the woodman is that it may be a little too big having a 1250mm rip capacity, and also that I can't go check one out before I buy it as MMVIC don't have any in stock and would have to order one in if I was go ahead with the purchase.
Anyone have an opion on any any of these they would like to share?
I'd love a felder but I can't stretch the budget that far.

The Prima 1600 looks to be very similar to the woodman except the prima has a lower quality overhead guard. I have the Prima 2500 which has the same overhead guard as the woodman, and can say that the dust extraction is pretty woeful. I think it is a 2 1/2" port which has a bunch of bottle necks reducing the flow to next to nothing. Apart from the guard, the only major differences I can spot is the price, motor power and the ripping capacity. The prima is 900mm ripping which may be better suited to your space requirements?

Thanks Kuffy, I'll have a look.
Any other thoughts on the Prima?

I recently went through the same exercise and settled on the MiniMax SC-2. It meets all of my needs and is a true quality machine that has easy adjustments for all key components. Previously I had a MiniMax combination unit for 8 years and liked the panel saw component so it was an easy transition to the SC-2. I have found cheaper copies of this machine do not have the accuracy nor the easy adjustment so it is a very good unit at this price point. I also looked at the Woodfast TS-315 but again thought the SC-2 was better. The only issue I have with the SC-2 was the need to relocate the stop start from the rear of the machine to the left hand side.
Cheers,
Paintman

DSCN3526.jpg I should have also mentioned that I also chose this saw because of my limited space. If you have the space there are lots of great second high quality industrrial second hand panel saws available at very good prices especially if you have 3Ph power available.
Cheers,

My thoughts have been laid out in this thread
Review of Prima 2500 panel saw
A quick summary is "I am happy with my Prima, but I would prefer an Altendorf F45 or WA8"

Cheers Paintman, that definitely looks the business. I've got a 2 1/2 car garage and I need to house other machine, a bench and some storage too. Looks like there will be a trip to SCM in Scoresby in my near future.

Woodfast TS315 versus MM SC2
Why did you decide on the MM over the Chinese machine?
thanks,
