Table Saw
Hi all,
I'm looking at buying a Table Saw for around $2000 - $2,500 Laguna or Harvey or any other brand ?
Thanks Bob

I was in your dilemma 12 months ago. When I bought my Laguna, Harvey's had top mounted motor not cabinet mounted. That was important to me but if I had the choice now I would toss a coin. Harvey is cheaper but might run on 15 Amps instead of the house friendly 10 Amp. I hope someone can verify that because I'm not sure. I think these two are the pick of hybrid saws around the $2000 mark and you can't go wrong with either.

I had a Laguna Fusion for a few months and then changed to a Harvey
The 3hp (15 amp) Harvey has done all I ever wanted .
The fence on the Laguna was better but apart from that there is little difference in the look of the saws.
Just remember the Harvey has a 30mm arbour ... makes the choice of blades and dado sets a trice more expensive ... but I have only 4 blades anyway

Hey Bob,
I purchased the Harvey HW110LGE-30 recently and haven't had a chance to really put it to heavy use but I can say that it is a great machine. Finish, build quality and bang for buck is all there for the price point. I did hours of reading before committing to the purchase but I don't regret it one bit. As Rob mentioned, this is a 15 amp beast so you may need to get a separate circuit installed. They all seem basically the same except apart from some small individual tweaks or colour schemes i.e. Grizzly G0690, Laguna Platinum, Craftex etc.
I did spend a bit of time fine tuning once it was all put together but I think you will face this with any saw that is shipped from OS as it wouldn't take much to mess up the factory settings. I also invested in a couple of Freud blades and put the factory one aside for "rough" rips.
I have also just added the Jessem clear cut stock guides to what I think is a great fence system and even though this now makes it a $3300 plus saw, hopefully like all my other good gear, I never need to replace it if I show it a bit of love!.
The aluminium extrusion section of the fence probably does make it a little more difficult to add other jigs but I will address that if it ever becomes a problem. I haven't seen other companies adopt this but rather they seem to run UHMW sections on both sides of the steel square section.
I make it public knowledge I still have L Plates on and I am learning alot but I can not speak any more highly of the friendly service & support I had from Roy at Get Woodworking during and after my purchase.
Cheers Trav.

I bought the ever reliable TSC-10HB table saw from Carbatec about 8 years ago, and it is a beauty. Like the heavy duty machinery of old, it will probably go forever. Lots of favourable comments about it on this forum. Has a 5/8" arbor, long enough to take a dado blade set up to 18mm wide.
Oooops.... Went to Carbatec to get a link for you, and it is no longer sold from the looks of it. Lots of expensive Sawstop, Jet and Powermatic table sawsregards,
Dengy
