the mbs 300 has a replacement arbour - simply unscrew the standard one and fit what they call a "arbour extension". I leave mine in all the time that way i can use dado blades and standard blades.
It is an abour that has a longer thread section thats all!
No hasle to replace at all- if you can use a allen kry.

Makes you wonder why it isn't standard on this machine,especially as C/tec list it as a $80 optional extra!

thanks steve, like i said, any advice is appreciated. like a lot of people here, i'm upgrading from my triton, and i wanna make sure that whatever table saw i get, i'm gonna be completely happy with it.speaking to different people at various carba tec branches, it seems to me that they're not too keen on using dado blades. with the danger factor, i.e if you happen to cut yourself, it does more damage than a standard blade. i know that when i do end up getting mine, i'll also be getting a suva guard or equivalent. bottom line is, you always gotta be alert when using machinery.....thanks for the advice

i queried carba tec about this, as i also have the 2007 catalogue, and the same table saw has dadoing capabilities as standard...

my apologies...it was the ts 12 r that i was talking about, not the mbs 300.
with the reviews i've read, i'm leaning toward the mbs 300.
my next question is....carbatec sell it for 2695.00 with optional suva guard.
mwe sell it for same price with the overhead guard.
hare and forbes sell theirs for 1859.00 with standard guard.
looking at the specs, the hare and forbes' version has a slightly wider rip capacity 1220mm compared to the carba tec version 1050mm.
mwe version 1210mm
carba tec give 5 year warranty
hare and forbes 2 year warranty
not sure on mwe warranty.
has any body had experience with the hare and forbes or mwe versions, and what is the overall verdict with them.
next question, the optional sliding table, has anybody had experience with them, and how did it handle ripping and cross cutting 8x4 sheets

Michael,

The MBS 300 has dado capability with the standard arbor, if you want wider than that gives you, then you can get the arbor extension.

There is no problem in using a dado blade as the is from a standard blade, be safety concious as they both can bite!

I too upgraded from the triton many years ago and wanted a saw that i did not need to replace again hopefully( spare parts were going to be important at some stage)

Be very carefull !! The MBS 300 is made by Mikiway in Taiwan. A MBS 300 is just that, a MBS 300. a tc-12 is not a MBS 300.

When I spoke with C/Tec a couple of weeks ago they said they will no longer be stocking the TS-12R as it is very similar feature wise to their MBS300 and it's not worth keeping both. Also, what is the Hare and Forbes equivalent you are talking about? The closest match I can see is the ST-12D but that isn't the same machine; - confused.

Sailor - do you have an answer for Block Head, I know I would be interested in your meaning too. It seems that several of us are currently weighing up the saws at carbatec and the MBS, TS12 and TSC10HB are contenders, in addition to the left tilt CTH110L!

so my meanig was carbatec sell the mbs300 ... mwe and hare and forbes do nt call theirs a MBS300 - they may look like one but are not the same.

I have ownes a mbs300 for about 6 years and am very happy with it.
