    Question TSC 10HB setup question

I picked up my tsc yesterday and am having acouple of issues with setting the wings up.

I have got the grizzly manual and seen the setup info in the forums, but when I get the top level and do the final sinch up of the bolts the top moves up a smidge.

Also one side tilted up so I used masking tape to shim it above the bolts and now it tilts down, and when I shim it from the bottom the tilt up is worse than it was to start with

Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated, and I really wish I had one of those mag clamps

    hi danzan,
i have had my tsc10hb for 6 weeks and its a real beaut. I was putting mine together at the tine with no help, I used a triton multistand and a couple of clamps to holde the tops at the correct position and then bolted them together.

Waldo then came down and helped double check everything and make some final adjustments - now a very accurate saw compared to my old triton.

From memory and stuart will be able to confirm this - he used a couple of the large magclamps to aid in fitting the top to his table.

There are plenty of tsc10hb owners on the forum that can advise.

    G'day Danzan,

Tighten the bolts for the wings enough that it holds the weight of the wings and sits proud of the main table, then with a rubber mallet tap until the wing is flush. A couple of clamps with off-cuts of timber to protect the table/wing surface will make things easier while you get the bolts in.

They're heavy things, I supported the weight of the wing on my shoulder while I put the bolts in with plenty of cursing going on. Nothing is easy with two hands when you need four, maybe grab a mate.

For shims cut up some feeler gauges which are cheap to come by as masking tape or paper will compress.
I make things, I just take a long time.

I used two long straight pieces of timber and clamped one end to the extension. Put a weight on the other end to balance. Nip the bolts up, tap with a rubber mallet for alignment. My extensions fitted correctly without shims etc.

You may also check the straight edge you use to check the level of the top, I had a similar problem setting up my table saw only to find that one side of the steel rule I used one of the edges was not straight. When i did find something straight to use i discovered the table was level and didn't require any shims

Thumbs up All working, I think

    Thanks for the advice all.

Once I took the wing off and started again, also noting that there weren't any flat washers supplied so went and got some, everything seems to be fine.

I also checked the straight edge I was using and it wasn't, changed that out and everything is joined together nice n tite.

Now I just need to work out what the bits I have left go

Debbie, how did you make the decision to buy the saw and what will you be using it for?

    Hey David,

basically I had been looking for a little while and went into both the Sydney and Canberra Carbatech store. Canberra store recommended it as a top end home saw / bottom end professional saw. I then jumped onto the forums and read what other said about it, went to the Sydney WWW show and had a look at the sawstop, liked the machine, but I couldn't justify the additional cost to myself.

The final kickers was that I saw it on special in one the woodworking mags, not one I normally get, and I got an unexpected check in the mail for about the same amount.

Figured it was fate that was smacking me round the head to hury up and go get.

I am hoping to build bits n pieces for around the house, and I have always jokingly said that I would build stuff so that my partner can sel it at the markets when we retire
