    [QUOTE=Albert;2109139

    If wood working is not an income to me and I am only a weekender then perhaps I may settle with Hammer or Robland. seems to tick all boxes.[/QUOTE]

    But Albert your Felder AD 951 is in another class to Hammer and Robland...... with no compromises.
    The right machine in a production environment!

    From what I know, it provides industrial strength, engineering excellence, reliability and unmatched accuracy.
    And with the spiral head it is supremely quiet! Of course, perfection comes at a price!

    Thanks to all who have provided advice....... on what I have found a tough decision.

    All things taken into account it looks like the dice has fallen in the direction of the Hammer A3 30/spiral head with digital handwheel.

    Just get the A3 31, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! The digital wheel is bang on accurate too.

    As for your concern about the length of the table, I too had the same concern and purchased the 800mm and 400 extension tables. I never used them and ended up selling them a few years ago. It obviously depends on the work you do, but if I ever need extra support I’ll just use a roller stand.
