    Default Assembling hafco PT-6 jointer

I’ve recently purchased a Hare and Forbes jointer, model PT-6. I’ve only been doing it in the after work hours, but I’ve been putting it together since Monday and still haven’t finished.

Does anybody have this model and can help?

I’m currently at the stage where I’m supposed to connect the fence with the fence mechanism. The manual is pretty worthless, all of it, and for this it says I should “screw the adjustment arm block to the fence” but I can’t figure out how. That hole in the fence in front of the arm block isn’t threaded and is too big for the screw, so I don’t think that can be it.

Admittedly I’m a beginner and having never used a jointer doesn’t help, but I can’t believe how bad the manual is.

If anyone has put this machine together I’d appreciate some help

I don't have one and I'm not sure whether this is the same as your manual.

Have you beaten it yet? If not, does hafco have one on the floor you could look at? Where are you, suburb wise?

Sorry somehow I missed the replies

I had to go to the show room to see how it’s assembled but now it’s done and all working

Just had a test run with the jointer and table saw today, finally got it all set up.

I found the manuals very poor - not enough detail, low quality and too dark photos, and in places plain wrong.

For this particular issue I asked the question about though, it was more just me being thick. The screw had to go from the other side - from the fence and into the block.

    Thanks guys!

P.S. I’m in Werribee. Would love to join a club or men’s shed, but the only one I found here is only open on a couple of week days during normal working hours so I can’t make it.
