    Default changing helical knives

    I'm sure I read something lately on here, but can't seem to find it.

    When changing knives on a helical head, do people use a torque wrench? Setting?

    I think the time has come to rotate and would like to here others tips and experiences.

    cheers
    shane

    There is this thread which mentions a torque figure.
    //www.woodworkforums.com/f11/portable-spiral-cutter-thicknessers-189413?highlight=Helical+cutters+torque

    and this one

    //www.woodworkforums.com/f155/fit-inserts-spiral-head-jointer-199817/2?highlight=Torque+spiral

    a quick conversion check and it’s the same torque in each post.

    There is no need for a torque wrench, just a few clunks with an impact driver will do. I have done literally thousands like this and never had any problems

    I purchased a 5.6Nm torque wrench similar to this one. Cost about $30. Works perfectly.
