Elektra Beckum HC260 - help request
Hi all,
I have a nice old jointer / thicknesser that has been very reliable. Yesterday the thicknesser table decided to break. After winding the thicknesser handle to about 55mm it got a little tight to turn and before long I heard a noise and then it would no longer move.
After checking out many a forum I did find a thread that advised I may have broken the spindle chain on the rear of the thicknesser table above the engine.
Unbeknown to me there are 5 cogs and a tiny chain that operates the spindles. And yes the chain had snapped.
So for several hours now I have been cleaning the chain and operating on the machine. The chain link is broken and whilst it will turn a little it returns to a broken chain link of I go near the 55mm range.
Does anybody know:
- where I could get a new chain (it’s so tiny - like a miniature bike chain)
- anything about these machines
- anyone who might service this machine
i have attached a few pics for reference and to show the size of chain.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

Take the chain to an engineering supply shop. They should be able to supply a replacement chain or at least a joining link to repair the break.

I have one of those. Great machine. Can't help on the chain. Mine is a very early example. Metabo own them now and do supply some spares. They might be able to help.

Problem solved
I forgot to update you all and close the thread. But good news....I end up getting a new split link from an engineering company. It fit perfectly and only cost a few dollars. After a re-oil of the chain and refitting it back into the machine it has been working perfectly since. Thanks for everyones feedback.
