Extension tables on the Hammer A3-31
Been using the machine a lot over the festive period and very much loving the bang on accuracy it provides. I have come across something odd hence the following query.
I have 1x short extension table ( which I plan to move around the unit as I require it) I purchased extra mounts for it and have attached these to both the jointer outfeed and also the planer outfeed. The aluminium extension table slides onto the mount from either side then it locks from below using the plastic handle. That works fine on the jointer table - yet there is no room on the planer table to slide it onto the mount from the side as the planer table is located inside the main guts of the machine. I've had to dissasemble the locking mechanism on the extension table - hang it onto the mount - then re-assemble the locking mechanism while it's now in place. Is that what is required or am I being thick and have missed something obvious. Can't see me moving the extension table on and off the planer if that is the case and I might just buy one to fix it on permanently if required. Thanks for the input

My experience is that I leave the table on the out feed of the planer, I have not found it to be necessary on the jointer.

As I understand it a planer is a jointer, not a thicknesser, because it just planes a face. A minor point maybe, but.....
Almost agree with Chris: leave the thicknesser outfeed table there permanently. Buy a second table for the jointer infeed table. No need for jointer outfeed - a roller stand will suffice for long jobs. You need two separate tables because they are different adjustments for being coplaner. Thicknesser outfeed being coplaner isn't quite as critical as jointer infeed. My thicky outfeed is never removed, but the jointer infeed is only added when required because of my space. It does not need adjusting each time I put it on.
Unless someone has found out something I have not then you may find that they are a GIANT PITA to get coplaner with the table. I had one of the bolts strip and it was the best thing ever because I replaced that stupid bloody large head with a normal bolt and now I can actually get a spanner on it and get a poofteenth of a turn happening for coplaner adjustment.

I agree with FF, it is not the epitome of mechanical design by and stretch of the imagination. I didn't break anything but a fair bit of basic Australian profanity was used. Felder have had a few design failures of note and this is one of them. The other I know of they re-designed and said if you want the new one you have to pay for it.

Do yourself a yuge favour Chris and replace that daft 17mm head with a standard ¼" bolt that takes I think a 10mm spanner. Or is it 6mm? Whatever.
