Fit spiral cutter head to Jet 13" thicknesser
I have ordered a spiral cutter head for my 13" Jet thicknesser. Have started to disassemble the machine in readiness but can't work out how to remove the old cutter head. It looks to me as if the gearbox needs to be removed but access to a couple of screws and hex head screws seem to be in an inaccessible spot. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't help with your specific machine, but just as a general comment for head swaps, it's a good idea to fit new bearings instead of re-using the old ones. Spend the extra for a well known brand, it's not going to be that much more than cheap ones and you have the extra peace of mind.

Thanks for the advice, will do. Have now removed the gearbox and pulley and am now trying to work out how to remove the bearing on the gearbox end from the housing without destroying the seal. It looks like the bearing needs to come out and then the end of the cutter head should drop down through a slot in the bottom of the housing.
