    Default GMC Thicknesser

    Hi,
Have read here in the past about these $199 or $299? GMC brand thicknessers, I think Bunnings had out on special or clearance a few months back. The price seems right, for occasional home use, so If they are still available is the machine worth the money? What I basically would like to know is it designed for light work only? Could I put 2 off,4mx 0.25m x0.045m Meranti boards through without the machine having a meltdown? Taking only light cuts of course. Are there power feed rollers? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Gary.

All your answers are in the thread which has already covered this machine.

I doubt that there are any left at that price however.

Garf, so far the biggest I have put trhu mine is 3000x200x50, and it handled that no problems. This was mountain ash.
    The feed rollers are powered.
I do a fair bit of small stuff for boxes and clocks as well.
Main thing is to support the timeber properly both on the onfeed and outfeed side.
Recent issue of Fine Woodworking (#183 I think) had an extensive article on how to avoid snip with these things.
Bought mine at Bunnings when they were selling them for $199, they had a couple of pallets full of them at the time here in Bendigo, all gone now though.

I can confirm they have all gone...certainly from any Bunnings in the Sydney area......I keep looking and hoping!
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

If you want to know if any are left on special, I would suggest that you PM Eagle - he is the man in the know!
