G'Day Egress, I have the Dewalt DW735 and put up with the original blades for 3-4yrs before installing a Byrd Shelix Cutter Head....
The Byrd Shelix Cutter Head in the Dewalt DW735 runs quieter, quiet enough to talk to a mate beside the running machine and the finish is hand smooth even on hard Aussie hardwood....
    Love it...
    Hope that helps, cheers, crowie

PS - If you were closer I'd invite you for a demo!!

Crowie, did you import the Bryd from the US??

Just checked Byrd’s site - shows “out of stock” - 3 month waiting time for a shelix head

Check with Robert Gregory at Wizard/Woodcraft, he may have stock.

Got his price at the Sydney Timber show - almost as dear as the planer. Thought it may be cheaper to bring in myself. Wasn’t sure if he sold Bryd.

Yep, I’ve upgraded two of my machines and he quoted me for Byrd and CTS on both machines.

I bought mine a good few years back at a Sydney Wood Show special from Robert Gregory/Woodcraft....
From memory about $600 while the machine was bought from VEK the year before on special for about $800.
